Dear Charger Bulletin, Your latest edition featured a sad story about the Yale Fraternity hazing on their campus. Hateful speech, sexual slurs, and demeaning words towards women were all on a campus considered to be among “the best.” A few years ago our Yale brethren decided to start a “Fried Chicken and Porn Club!” I think there are far too many people there with “issues.”
I graduated from (then) New Haven College, when Pete Peterson was our president. I’m pleased to say that back then and up to the current times, our fraternities have not stooped as low as the “elite Yalies” have. This disturbing trend has also been noted on other large college campuses.
We may be a small university, but our size is also a blessing. People know each other, are more respectful of one another, and less prone to the adolescent behaviors noted on larger college campuses.
Thanks to our Fraternities and Sororities! Your maturity and sanity is most appreciated.
