NEW YORK – Hip-hop artist and businessman Shawn Carter (publicly known as Jay-Z), the husband of former Destiny’s Child lead vocalist Beyoncé Knowles, will hold a Sept. 11 benefit concert in New York City.
The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund has announced that the entertainer made the announcement this past Monday, August 31, at Madison Square Garden. He will be joined on stage by Governor David Paterson, Fire Commissioner Nicholas Nicholas Scoppetta, and president of the Manhattan Borough Scott Stringer.
Called “Answer the Call,” the charity concert will assist the families of New York City police and firefighters who were killed on 9/11. It will be held on Sept. 11 at Madison Square Garden.
Every penny made from ticket sales, as well as money made from merchandise sold at the concert, will go directly to New York-based benefit fund.
