WEST HAVEN–Before we get into sports this week I just want to let everyone know about the Rec Center’s spring break hours from Friday, Mar. 13 to Saturday, Mar. 21. For those of you staying on campus the Rec Center will be open as follows: Monday-Friday: 7am-7pm, Saturday: 10am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm. Regular hours resume Sunday, Mar. 22. These hours, as well as any updates, will be posted on our website at www.newhaven.edu/athletics/ChargerREC.
Back to the main event: RECSports! On Saturday, Feb. 3 RECSports held a free throw contest. Twenty-one students came out to show their talent in this skillful venture. Steven Paternoster and Ariel Francis made it into the top four with 12/25 baskets scored and 15/25 baskets scored respectively. The most intense battle, however, was between Shante Stevenson and Chris Bacote. The two competitors actually tied in the most baskets scored with 17 out 25, but Chris was awarded the win because he had the most consecutive scores. Congratulations to Chris and awesome job to all the participants.
Season Three is still going strong despite the regular games being finished up this week. I hope all the teams are making the best of it. Don’t forget current standings and schedules can be found on the ChargerREC website under RECSports or on the bulletin board across from equipment services.
As Season Three winds down in this last week before spring break, remember that registration for Season Four is also coming to an end. Registration ends on Friday, Mar. 13 at 5 p.m., so be sure to get all your paperwork in before then. If you need the registration form you can print it off from the ChargerREC website or pick one up at the equipment services desk. The managers meetings for Season Four will be held after spring break on Monday, Mar. 29. For the specific times please check the ChargerREC website on the RECSports page.
For the next few weeks keep up-to-date on all that is going on with RECSports, especially as we transition from Season Three to Season Four and take a wonderful week off from classes. In fact, be sure to check out the ChargerREC website for updates to all of the ChargerREC activities, because a new spin class has been added as of Feb. 17. The spin class is on Tuesday nights from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. and all the information is on the website.
Well that is all for this week so I say adieu. I will see you in two weeks.
