To start the night, singer/songwriter Faith Ziegler, a pop artist from Berlin, Conn., did a great job opening up for the show. She sung some of her original songs along with a few covers. She is a very talented and passionate singer who loves to do what she does. After her performance, I had the chance to talk with her upstairs with all the other bands as they were waiting to go on. Everyone told her she did a phenomenal job opening up for the show. If you have not heard of her before, I suggest you look her up and check out her music.
Following Ziegler’s performance, there were five more bands; Stay Seventeen, a punk/pop rock band from Boston, Mass., Me vs. Gravity, a pop/rock band also from Boston, This is All Now, a pop/rock band from Long Island, New York., and Kicking Daisies, a pop/rock band from New York. Coming from the same genre of music, these bands gave it their all and performed their hearts out for their fans. Everyone can say that this was a night that will never be forgotten.
I had the chance to sit down and ask a few questions to Kicking Daisies and Me vs. Gravity. They were all nice guys who love to joke around, which made the interviews very entertaining. First I spoke to Richie, Duran, Ben and Jeff of Kicking Daisies, and asked them: “If you guys could relive a show, what show would it be?”
Duran replied, “Opening up for Allstar Weekend in Celebration Florida, which was the biggest show we have ever played.” He estimated there were over 10,000 people in attendance. Richie said, “For me, Wildwood.” Ben responded, “Honestly, I could relive any show we have done at The Troubadour in LA.” Lastly, Jeff added, “The Haunt in Ithaca, NY.” The four of them are a bunch of intelligent guys who thoroughly enjoy making music for a living.
After speaking to Kicking Daisies, I had a chat with Ben, Dave and Zach of Me vs. Gravity. This interview was very interesting because the guys got dressed up in costumes. (Yes when I say costumes, they literally put on the most unique things to wear for the interview, including a Hulk outfit). I asked the boys: “Why did you want to be a part of the music world and be in a band?” Ben answered, “We all just love music and want to be as close as we can to it.” Dave contributed, “We all started playing our instruments and doing our thing, and one day we realized we didn’t wanted to do anything else.” These guys made it so hard for me not to laugh during the interview; they all had great personalities and senses of humor.
To end the night with a bang, it was time for the headline pop/rock band, Hollywood Ending, to hit the stage. They played many songs including their hit songs, “Always 18,” “Forever and Always.” “You Got Me” and “Don’t Let Me Down.” They also played covers of Justin Bieber’s song “Beauty and A Beat,” Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted,” and One Direction’s “Kiss You.” Leaving the show with a positive outcome, they sang “Don’t Let Me Down.” They encouraged everyone to dance and sing along to their last song of the night. When the song began, everyone got on their feet and yelled “I’m opening up, so don’t let me down,” a line from their most popular song. No one wanted the night to end.
After the show was over, I told Tyler, Cameron and Danny that they put on an incredible show. Words from all three: “Thank you so much, it really means a lot to us that you came and enjoyed the show.”
Keep an eye out for more on Hollywood Ending; they will be touring with R5 in the spring on the Loud Tour. This is a tour you won’t want to miss out on.
