Last Monday, October 31, it was Halloween and to celebrate SCOPE held its annual Halloween Haunted House and gave all the students that came a “scaretastic” time.
The entire Bartels Center was taken up for this event, so there were several different scare rooms and even games and food downstairs. In the cafeteria, there were lady fingers, pigs in a blanket, Halloween cupcakes, caramel apples that students could make themselves, and lollipops made out of munchkins covered in white chocolate. All the food was delicious, and the lollipops were even made especially for everyone by the Halloween and Carnival Committee Heads.
The committee heads also put a lot of hard work into all the scare rooms that were spread throughout the entire upstairs of the Bartels Center. All the rooms from the Alumni Lounge, A/B Room, Dedominicus, and the Moulton Lounge were utilized to present the best Haunted House that the students have ever been in. In the A/B Room there was a haunted grave yard, complete with head stones, body parts, and of course the walking dead. The next room that the students went through was a haunted maze. The committee put up black walls and in between there were people that popped out of different places. Students were running out to get away, they were so scared.
But if the students thought that was scary, the next room was worse for some; it was a clown room. Some people so very afraid of clowns and can’t stand getting near them, which made this a great room to have as part of the Haunted House. There were some students that couldn’t even go in the room because they were so freaked out. And the final room was a mad scientist lab that featured, of course, a mad scientist conducting research on humans. One was coming alive as each group passed through.
Everyone must have been excited to have a Haunted House right on campus, because the line went from the bottom of the stairs from the Alumni Lounge to the doors and wrapped around the Programming Space.
Halloween and Carnival did a great job, because there were screams coming from the rooms, and students were running scared. It was a great time, and the committee was having a good time as well scaring students and laughing throughout the night. SCOPE created another successful event, and it was “scaretastic!’
