The University of New Haven Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams competed April 7 at the UMass Lowell’s 2012 George Davis
Invitational Saturday.
Calista Hutchinson, senior, started off the meet strong with a second place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters. Alesha Chu Foo, senior, placed seventh in the high jump with a jump of 1.55 meters. The women were also led by Ivy Watts, freshman, with a third place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 60.14 seconds.
Alissa Howell, junior, placed 11 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.89 seconds, 14 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.89 seconds, and Howell also competed in the long jump where she placed fourth with a distance of 5.49 meters.
Tiara Mitchell, freshman, placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.17 meters. Briana Conyers, freshman, placed 11 in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.02 seconds.
Danielle Sorrentino, freshman, placed 12 in the 5000 meter run with a time of 20:15.85 minutes. For Sorrentino, an all academic cross country runner, this was her first 5k on the track. Shraya Manick, junior, placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 38.36 meters, and place fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.40 meters.
Kevin Downing, senior, led the Chargers with a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.23 seconds. Winston Reid, senior, placed eighth in the 400 with a time of 51.59 seconds.
Matthew Dunham, senior, placed 15 in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.10 minutes. Joshua LeBlanc, graduate student, and Matthew Eder, freshman, also ran the 800 meter run. Michael Barile, sophomore, ran the 1500 meter on the men’s side with a time of 4:35.35 minutes.
Tyler Valilak, freshman, placed 17 in the long jump with a distance of 5.92 meters and16 in the triple jump with a distance of 11.96 meters. Patrick Gosier, senior, placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 13.57 meters.
The Chargers will compete next at Princeton University’s Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21
