The University of New Haven’s North Campus is home to the Ralph Della Camera Stadium, where football games are hosted several Saturday’s throughout autumn.
At these games, the whole campus shows up as everyone gets into their Charger spirit and roots for the team. Before and after the game, large migrations of people can be seen walking between the main campus and North Campus.
Members of the marching band and athletic teams have experienced this walk many times going to and from practice already. The path to the football stadium takes one through residential areas, separating North Campus and Main Campus. The longest stretch is going down Prudden Street, passing Echlin Hall and North Hall.
Over the summer, there was a sidewalk resurfacing project to make the walk more convenient for people.
This was just one of the many improvements that UNH has made to its campus over the past few months, but now the walk is much more straightforward for game-goers.
The Prudden street sidewalk addition and North Campus parking lot renovation is among many projects to make UNH’s athletic events more accessible and allows safer access for pedestrians, while improving the appearance of the corridor from Main Campus to North Campus.
North Campus currently has a fairly large parking lot, yet in the back of the parking lot, the surface has crumbled and the lines are barely visible, making it difficult to drive over or park.
The university is fixing this issue by repaving and restriping some portions of the lot.
This will be an added feature to update the feel of the campus as a whole since many students and alum alike partake in football game events and the Spring weekend carvnival is even held in the parking lot.
Speaking of, the first football game is in a week, so get your blue and gold gear ready, and walk along the new sidewalk or park in a new spot and root for your Chargers!
