INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of New Haven football team earned the program’s fifth berth to the NCAA Division II Football Championship tournament and the first since 1997 Sunday evening as the championship committee announce Division II’s field of 24 teams. The Chargers (10-1, 8-0 NE-10) earned the No. 2 seed which gives them a first round bye on Saturday, November 19. and a home game on Saturday, November 26.
New Haven will host its first NCAA postseason game at DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday, November 26 against the winner of the first round game between No. 3 seed Kutztown (Pa.) and No. 6 seed Concord. The other half of Super Region One features No. 1 seed Winston-Salem State who will play the winner of No. 4 seed Elizabeth City State and No. 5 seed California (Pa.). The Super Region One champion will be crowned in the quarterfinals on Saturday, December 3 at the highest remaining seed.
