The first annual charger ball was held Saturday Feb. 4 at The University of New Haven. The ball was held in the German Club on campus, where all athletes, and their choice of a guest, met to dance the night away. All sports teams were invited to this event.
The dance was held from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The athletic trainers were there to chaperon along with Larry Earnesty, the Assistant Director of Athletics for NCAA Compliance and Student Welfare, who all helped make the event possible.
SAAC representatives met you at the door to check you and your guest in and conveniently organized a coat check for the athletes and their guests. This event brought the athletes back to their high school days and getting ready for prom where hours where spent on hair and make-up and taking pictures together.
Ian Michael was the DJ at the ball and kept the chargers on their feet. There were snacks and drinks provided for the athletes. Tickets were one dollar for all athletes and two dollars for all non-athlete quests. Tickets were sold by teams SAAC representatives, and all the proceeds went to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
This was a classy semi-formal where the chargers got to change out of their uniforms and put on their dresses and ties for a night of fun.
