Ed Sheeran felt right at home this past St. Patrick’s Day as he surprised fans with a special performance at the Irish pub, The Dubliner, in Boston. Though some of Sheeran’s music is influenced by traditional Irish music, such as his hit song “Galway Girl,” the 34-year-old singer’s Irish heritage goes deeper than what has been made public.

After leaving the pub, many fans said they spotted what appeared to be Sheeran in the back alley of the establishment wearing a bright green suit and a top hat. They also said that one thing was different about the singer’s appearance. The 5-foot-8 singer looked an entire three feet shorter. Additionally, alongside his naturally ginger hair, the singer adorned a new full beard, one that was not there an hour earlier. Before fans could get a better look at him, the man ran off with what looked to be a pot of gold in his hands. Fans also reported hearing the faint sound of mischievous laughter and the tapping sound of tiny footsteps slowly fading in the distance.

“We thought we were seeing things,” said one of the fans who witnessed the event. “I mean we just got done drinking and celebrating so maybe we were, but it seriously was him! I mean from what we could see, his face was identically the face of Ed, the same Ed we saw moments before!”

After investigating the scene, the fans found small chunks of what appeared to be gold, leaving a trail that followed the short man.

Multiple sources online reported spotting the figure of a small man dressed in green running around the streets of Boston. One photo, taken by reporters of the local news, captured the face of the figure, a face that was none other than Sheeran himself.

Answers were needed. Was Ed Sheeran truly the small, mischievous, mythical creature from Irish folklore? Was Ed Sheeran secretly a leprechaun?

There was only one way to tell for sure whether these theories were true. Some fans gathered the spare chunks of gold and an old shoe box and they decided the only way to figure this out was to trap the small creature.

With a small string attached to the shoe box, fans waited silently as they awaited the small creature to find his missing gold. After hours of waiting, the sound of tiny footsteps and laughter was finally heard again.

Once he entered the shoe box, the string was pulled down and the creature was finally trapped. Through a tiny peep hole cut out of the top of the box, one thing was determined to be true. The tiny creature inside of the box was none other than Ed Sheeran himself.
