Fried Cookie Dough!
What They Are:
Delicious, warm, gooey cookie dough in a fried dough batter! Perfect for eating your problems away, cheering someone up, or just a guilty pleasure!
What You Need:
Cookie Dough
-2 ½ Cups of flour
-1 Teaspoon baking soda
-Pinch of salt
-1 Cup of butter (softened)
-1 ½ Cups of brown sugar
-½ Cup of sugar
-2 Eggs
-1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
-2 Cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Frying Batter
-2 Cups of flour
-2 Tablespoons of sugar
-1 Teaspoon baking powder
-1 Egg
-1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
-½ Seltzer Water
Vegetable Oil for Frying
What to Do:
1) Combine all dry cookie dough ingredients into a large bowl, along with butter; mix
2) Add in the rest of the cookie dough ingredients; mix
3) Form ping-pong sized balls of cookie dough, and place onto a foiled pan
4) Place cookie dough ball pan in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
5) Mix all ingredients for frying batter in a large bowl; whisk to mix
6) Add more seltzer water if needed; batter should be thicker consistency (similar to heavy cream)
7) Take dough balls out of freezer
8) Dip balls into batter, then fry in vegetable oil in deep fryer (or carefully heat oil in a large pot on the stove!) at around 350 degrees
9) Drain excess oil, and enjoy!

I really enjoyed these delicacies. They reminded me of an Italian zeppole, except they are moister with a chocolate kick. I love zeppole, and this adds to the fun of eating them. They are heavy in texture and eating more than two or three will be pushing your limits. Frying dough is hard, but Laura did a good job in enhancing an old Italian recipe. They will be fine as a before or after dinner treat.
