Black and White Cream Cheese Bars!
What They Are:
A delicious mixture of soft and crunchy cheesecake-like bars. Quick and easy: perfect for any occasion.
What You Need:
-2 cups of chocolate chips
-1/2 cup of margarine
-2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
-1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese (softened)
-1 (14 ounce) can of sweetened condensed milk
-1 egg
-1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
What to Do:
1) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
2) In a medium sauce pan, melt down the chocolate chips and margarine (on stovetop) until a completely melted consisten cy is reached
3) Next, mix in the graham cracker crumbs (set aside ¼ cup of them for a later use)
4) Set aside chocolaty graham mixture until later
5) In a mixing bowl, whip the cream cheese until a fluffier con sistence is reached
6) Add in the condensed milk, egg, and vanilla and mix; batter should be liquidity
7) Grease a square cake pan
8) Press the chocolaty graham mixture into the bottom of the pan
9) Pour the cream cheese mixture over top of chocolaty graham mixture
10) Sprinkle the remaining graham cracker crumbs on top
11) Bake 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned
12) Allow them to cool, and enjoy
Food Critic’s Review:
Too often enough, I find cheesecake-bars to be hard to eat, mainly because the cheesecake portion is overpowering. However, when tasting these bars, there was something special about them, considering the whole bottom portion was made of chocolate. The entire dessert was a good combination of a soft layer on top and a crunchy layer on the bottom. The bottom layer helped keep everything together, while adding chocolate and an added surprise. This is a great recipe to try if you are in the mood for both something cheesecake like and chocolate. Give this recipe a try!
