Mark Wahlberg’s latest movie, Contraband, hit the box offices in mid-January and hit the ground running. Wahlberg has a history of starring in famous action films, such as 2006’s Shooter, 2007’s The Departed, and 2010’s The Other Guys. His performance in Contraband doesn’t disappoint.
Contraband is about Wahlberg’s character, reformed smuggler Chris Farraday, and his desperate attempt to pull off one last score to get his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), out of trouble and keep his family alive. Farraday and his crew have to bring back enough money in counterfeit bills from Panama to pay off Andy’s debts, and not get arrested or killed in the process.
Farraday’s best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), is in charge of protecting Farraday’s wife and kids in the U.S. Unbeknownst to Farraday, however, Sebastian is not as faithful to his friends as he seems. In the end, Farraday is in a race against the clock to get Andy out of trouble and to get back to his family before it’s too late.
Contraband is a fast-paced action movie with an interesting storyline and good acting. For action fans, it is definitely a must see.
