Just like her mother, Beyoncé’s newborn baby girl, Blue Ivy, is already hitting the Billboard Charts. Not even a year old, Blue (yes that is the child’s first name), is the youngest person ever to be credited on the U.S Billboard Charts.
After the birth of their daughter, Jay-Z (the proud father) went straight to the recording studio to record his song entitled, “Glory.” The song literally expresses everything the couple went through in order to have their new baby girl: everything including a miscarriage that Beyoncé had never gone public with in the past.
The new Billboard song features the coos and cries of Blue, while her father raps about the joy, and “glory” she has brought both him and Beyoncé.
The track made its debut on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart this week at No. 74. It is the newest Billboard R&B entry, and the baby is being featured on the album as B.I.C (Blue Ivy Carter).
Billboard had a very skeptical take on the power couple releasing this track only 48 hours after the baby’s birth.
For fans old enough to remember, Stevie Wonder’s 1977 song, “Isn’t She Lovely,” was also written for his daughter Aisha and also featured the baby’s gurgles. Billboard explains that it was easier to accept this song as an artistic ode to a loved one in Wonder’s life. “Isn’t She Lovely” was released almost two years after Aisha was born, and she wasn’t officially credited on the song.
I guess what they say is true, that it isn’t what you know; it’s who you know. With parents like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Blue Ivy will have no trouble making her name known in the future and becoming something bigger than probably a lot of us expect. Although, it is good to see one Hollywood couple who truly seems to be in love, and not just living for the camera’s and publicity, having your two-day-old child on the Billboard charts is definitely a good way to gain some more public interest even if it may not be the best way. It will be interesting to see what happens when she reaches a year old… can you say Grammy?
