Inspired by Ron and Judi Barrett’s children’s book of the same name, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs follows inventor Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) and brainy weathergirl Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) as they fill requested orders of the machine that was meant to stop hunger in their town. Meanwhile Mayor Shelbourne (Bruce Campbell) schemes to use Flint’s latest invention– the device designed to improve everyone’s lives–for his own personal gain.
If you remember the old children’s book and are skeptical of seeing the film or of the reviews: definitely see it! In the film, Flint Lockwood was raised by his fisherman father in a sardine town but has always wanted to be an inventor. In efforts to make an invention that really meant something to the world, Flint creates a machine that can transform water into food by changing the water’s molecular status. In doing so Flint attracts the adoration of the town that teased him relentlessly as a child and possibly saves its failing industrial state.
Seeing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3D was great because it gives the film a high-definition feeling while you experience the feeling of a giant food fight in theater. From raining spaghetti and meatballs to a snow day of ice cream, you’ll surely enjoy this children’s movie spread with a buffet of adult humor.
