The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed Saturday, April 21 at the 2012 Larry Ellis Memorial Invitation held at
Princeton University.
Tiara Mitchell placed fourth overall in the triple jump. Mitchell jumped 11.69 meters: a new school record and a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.
Ivy Watts placed 34th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.83 seconds. Watts also ran as a leg of the 4X400 meter relay that placed 25th with a time of 4:12.20 minutes.
Matt Jeune placed second in the high jump, with a height of 2.04 meters. Kevin Downing placed 26th in 100 meter dash with a time of 11.06 seconds. Downing also competed in the 200 meter dash and placed 16th with a time of 22.06 seconds.
Joshua LeBlanc placed 21st in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:58.26, and Matt Dunham, also competed in the 1500 and placed 54th with a time of 4:14.84. Dunham returned as a leg in the 4×400 meter relay that placed 32nd with a time of 3:32.57 minutes.
The throwers and the jumpers on the men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at a Yale invitational Saturday instead.
Also, previously this week three chargers, Briana Conyers, Calista Hutchinson, and Alissa Howell, competed at the College of The Holy Cross heptathlon. Conyers led the Chargers with 3,843 total points and a sixth place finish. Hutchinson followed with 3,724 points in eighth place, and Howell placed tenth with 3,695 total points.
