With Avengers stage 2 firing with all guns blazing, fans all over the internet and beyond can’t wait to see what Marvel has in store after Avengers 2.
It appears stage 3 is entering the light. Avengers: Age of Ultron, will hit theatres in the summer of 2015, and we already know stage 3 will start with Ant Man.
Besides that, Marvel scheduled three untitled release dates through the following two years. It is clear that two of those three sports will be occupied by Captain America 3, and Thor 3. It’s no wonder that Thor’s third installment lies in our future having both his films been very highly regarded, and slam dunk money makers for Marvel Studios.
Captain America: The First Avenger, proved to be one of the best movies of phase one, and the Winter Soldier has yet to come out. Wait, the second has yet to come out? And they’re looking at the third? Get this; Marvel Studio is so happy with the pre-screening critical reception, that they already signed the directors to return for the third film.
Evidently, critics loved the Winter Soldier during pre-screenings. Pre-game hype and studio confidence is never a bad sign. This raises the question of who will take over the final spot in phase 3?
The favorite to win is a Dr. Strange film. It’s the one that seems to be getting the most inside hype, and Marvel has been talking about it for a while. It even makes sense from the story telling perspective: Avengers 3 is being built up to be the Infinity Gauntlet, which Dr. Strange plays a major part of in the comics.
Sorry Black Panther fans, but you’re going to have to wait a little longer. The big thing to take out of this is Marvels confidence. We see time and time again that Marvel is confident in their products and aren’t afraid to take risks and move forward.
These announcements just add more fuel to that fire, and prove how advanced their story plan is. To Warner Brothers and DC, this is just another hammer hitting them over the head.
