MILTON, Mass.–Two sisters are dead and one is severely injured after their older brother attacked them with a kitchen knife in their suburban home early Sunday evening, Mar. 29.
Kerby Revelus, 23, began his attack by stabbing his 17-year-old sister, Samantha, to death. Police arrived on the scene within one minute of receiving the 911 call from Sarafina, Revelus’ nine-year-old sister.
Milton police Chief Richard G. Wells Jr. said that the officer who first entered the home “walked into a killing field.” Police called the incident an “atrocity.” Revelus decapitated his sister Bianca, despite the police officer’s presence. She had just celebrated her fifth birthday the previous day.
When Revelus was finished with Bianca, he turned on Sarafina who had called the police. Two of the responding officers shot Revelus dead as he tried to attack his last breathing sister. He fell to the ground, still holding the knife.
Sarafina was taken to the hospital on Sunday after being stabbed in the abdomen and legs.
“In policing, we see the raw human emotion every day, but to think that a human being could afflict such an atrocious, violent act on his own family is unbelievable,” Wells continued.
Investigators believe that Revelus’ attack may have been triggered by lingering agitation over a fistfight with his neighbor a few nights earlier. Details regarding the number of shots fired and which officer killed Revelus will be released following his autopsy.
