As classes resume, students start to miss the freedom of summer. These playlist picks will bring you back to warm weather and carefree days.

Wild Thoughts — DJ Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson Tiller

Released as the third single off the Miami DJ’s tenth studio album Grateful, Khaled found the perfect musical recipe for an anthem meant to cool us off well into the indian summer. This track proves that Rihanna and his stardom has not yet faded while Bryson’s continues to grow.

Love Galore (feat. Travis Scott) — SZA

The world of female R&B has found its new reigning queen in New Jersey-native turned TDE-signed artist SZA. Her breakout single, the haunted R&B-tingled Love Galore, asks the question that many women want to know: “Why you bother me when you know you don’t want me?”

Obsession (25/7) — DJ Vice feat. Jon Bellion and Kyle

DJ Vice combines the forces of two rising artists for a hit: Jon Bellion’s contemporary R&B vocals blend perfectly with Kyle’s sing-rapping to create a lighthearted pop song about modern love and the magnification of emotions that exists with the use of social media.

Bodak Yellow — Cardi B

This Bronx Dominicana is a woman of many trades including Instagram comedy, reality TV, and nightclub hosting; now she’s breaks two records with her braggadocious bop Bodak Yellow, the only Love & Hip Hop star since show’s inception to have a solo top 10 pop hit and the highest charting solo single by a female rapper since Nicki Minaj in 2014.

Rake It Up (feat. Nicki Minaj) — Yo Gotti

Looking for a house party track? You’ll find it in this Mike Will Made It-produced trap number mixed with plenty of cockiness, unbothered attitude and an infectious Nicki Minaj verse.

Praying — Kesha

There was question whether Kesha’s career would recover after her 2016 court battle with former producer and label head Dr. Luke. However, with a supportive fan base, Kesha had nowhere to go but back up. “Praying” off her new album Rainbow showcases the real Kesha without the novelty-image and auto-tune.

If It Ain’t Me (feat. K. Michelle) — Trina

There is no better way to way to signal the release of the Miami MC Trina’s comeback album than with a kiss-off anthem to the guys than do nothing but play with her heart.

Havana (feat. Young Thug) — Camila Cabello

Now Fifth Harmony-free, Camila continues to search to find the solo hit single. This time she goes embraces her Cuban heritage with Havana, which matches healthy piano pop with Latin ballroom fusion.

There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back — Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes earns his fifth consecutive top 40 hit with his latest single There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back that is typical of his sound: a raspy voice over wicked airy guitar strings.

Die For You — The Weekend

Given the major attention this song got from being played in one of the biggest shows of the summer (HBO’s Insecure) it would be a miscarriage of justice if this was released as a single this fall. The beat and melody is as cold and airy as what New England will face two months from now.
