Dear Melanie,
I recently got a job giving out samples from a relatively new store where I’d get a commission in addition to my salary. I did such a good job that my company now wants me to recruit potential new employees and train them, but that means that I’d have no time to make a commission anymore, which was more than 75% of my income. I like working here, but it doesn’t make sense for me to make less money for doing more. What do I do?
Thanks,
Conflicted in Consumerism
Dear Conflicted,
I totally understand your frustration, and my suggestion is to talk to your boss and explain your situation. You can either speak to him/her directly or send an email, which would benefit you in leaving a paper trail should any issues later arise. Either way though, definitely don’t be afraid to speak up and assert yourself!
XOXO,
Melanie
