Dear Melanie,
I have a full-time job along with going to school full-time. I miss out on a lot of events and extracurricular activities because, even if I am not working at the time, I am probably doing homework or spending what little time I have left with my friends or family. It’s hard to juggle everything and I am starting to feel burnt out; what should I do?

Dear Reader,
Time management is really the hardest thing to figure out. Even with time management, though, you will have to sacrifice something. Right now you are sacrificing on campus events and activities to work more, which is fine for people who want to do that.
If this is something you are starting to feel resentment about, then maybe you should find out if you can cut down your hours at work so that you can do more on campus. If this job is not what you want to do in your future and isn’t benefitting your future in any way, then it’s okay to not work as much. If they value you as an employee, they will work with you and your availability.
The best thing to do for your happiness is what feels right and since you’re questioning your situation, you must be feeling like a change needs to happen. Make the changes you need to make so that you can enjoy your college experience more.
Xoxo,
Melanie
