Dear Melanie,
I am having issues in one of my classes; I have tried asking my professor for help, but he will not help me and I don’t know what else to do. I don’t want to withdraw from the class because it is a core requirement and I will end up having to take it anyway. What should I do?
Sincerely,
A Dedicated Reader
Dear Reader,
This is a situation that many of us have been in. A class that you aren’t understanding and are unable to get help in is not only bad for your grades but also your self-esteem, which can hurt other classes and other areas of your life.
Your first step should be to make an appointment in the CLR; there are some amazing people in there dedicated to helping you and making sure you do the best you can.
If going to the CLR doesn’t help, then you should withdraw and try to take the course with a different professor; teaching style does matter.
You need the course but remember that you also need to understand what you’re learning to get the best out of your college experience and a good GPA for your future. Keeping a class that you aren’t doing well in will only hurt you.
xoxo,
Melanie
