Over this past summer, I came to hear of a Dolphin named Winter and the story of how she overcame impossible odds only to inspire the hearts and minds of our nation. When I met those who
worked alongside Winter and even meeting the legend herself, I could only imagine what her story could do if placed in the right hands.
I then came to know of the movie that was being filmed in her honor. Immediately, I could only sit and anticipate this movie to be called A Dolphins Tale, as well as spread the word of its arrival. This movie brings to its audience all that is needed of a timeless cinema classic. Its all star cast features Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, and Winter herself. This movie takes you through the waves of one dolphin’s incredibly brave life and the compassionate strangers who banded together to save her life no matter what.
The movie begins when a swimming, young dolphin is caught in a crab trap, which severely damages her tail. She is then rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital in Florida and given the name of Winter. Her struggle has only just begun, for without a tail, Winter’s prognosis is dire. It will take the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist (Harry Connick Jr.), the ingenuity of a brilliant prosthetics doctor (Morgan Freeman), and the unwavering devotion of a young boy (Nathan Gamble) to bring about a groundbreaking miracle. This miracle might not only save Winter but could also help scores of people around the world.
Winter serves as a symbol of courage, perseverance, and hope to millions of people that are both able and disabled. All who have been touched by her remarkable story of recovery and rehabilitation become inspired to do more and volunteer for a better cause.
