As November draws to a close, fans of rapper Jarold “Juice WRLD” Anthony Higgins received several surprises and tributes in honor of the fallen rapper, who suffered an untimely death in December 2019.
Juice WRLD’s final album is available to the public as of Nov. 29. Titled “The Party Never Ends,” the album includes several leaked songs such as Lace It, which was released in December 2023 and featured Benny Blanco and Eminem, as well as AGATS2 (Insecure), which featured Nicki Minaj.
The album serves as Juice WRLD’s third post-death product, with production handled by Eminem and Benny Blanco. Other surprise features included Fall Out Boy, Offset and Kid Laroi, who had a special solo song due to his close bond with Juice WRLD before his passing, titled Goodbye.
The cover art for the album was created by famous artist Takashi Murakami, as a love letter and tribute for Juice WRLD’s fifth anniversary of his death, as well as his birthday. The album is the fifth and final studio album that the rapper created and produced during his life.
“It’s been five years kid, still missing you down here…” said the rapper’s manager Lil Bibby on an Instagram post commemorating his death. “Other than that the album is amazing, and it’s crazy to see that these kids still want more from you after 1000 leaks and hours of footage. Thank you, and your crazy fans for everything, Hope y’all enjoy this Last Album! 999 for Life.”
The album has received mixed reviews, with most appearing to believe that the album was naught but a posthumous cash grab to all who featured or took part in the production of the album. “‘The Party Never Ends’ is not only a distasteful cash grab by Grade A to capitalize off of Juice WRLD’s already tainted legacy, but it’s also GARBAGE, straight basura from front to back,” said a reviewer from Remi’s Reviews. “Much better than I thought it would be,” said another reviewer. “The best posthumous Juice drop for sure, hopefully this is the last one.”
Accompanying the album drop was a special surprise for those who were fans of the rapper as well as fans of the popular game Fortnite: Battle Royale. Those who knew Juice WRLD knew that he had openly expressed his love for the game, and wished to eventually appear on the game itself. As a tribute, at the end of Fortnite’s Chapter 2: The Remix, a virtual concert took place, announcing the transition from Chapter 5 of the game to Chapter 6. The concert, titled Remix: The Finale, took place on Nov. 30, featuring several known artists, starting with rappers Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Ice Spice.
The main feature at the end of the show was Juice WRLD, who could be seen looking over the Battle Royale Map for the entirety of the month leading up to the concert. The concert featured an exclusive Fortnite world premiere of the track Empty Out Your Pockets, as well as playing Juice Wrld’s most popular song Lucid Dreams.
The rapper’s wish of becoming a skin in Fortnite was also accomplished, with two versions of the rapper released in the next Fortnite item shop cycle, as well as a style of the rapper being free to all who logged into the game in the five days leading up to the final live event. Remix: The Finale smashed records for all previous Fortnite Live Events, reaching a concurrent 14 million players, and over 3 million estimated live-streamed across streaming platforms Twitch and Youtube.
