The movie, 21 Jump Street, is a comedic film about two immature police officers who are thrown into high school to take down a drug ring that is selling a new synthetic drug. The two officers integrate themselves into their pasts’ to prove themselves worthy of their badges. Through many goofs and embarrassing stunts, they learn to really appreciate each other in a whole new way.
21 Jump Street was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and released March 16, 2012. It was rated R for language, sexual content, teen drinking, drugs, and violence. The two main characters, Officer Schmidt and Jenko, are played by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. Schmidt and Jenko are best friends on the police force who are assigned to contain a new drug in a particular high school and find the supplier. With many bumps and curves in the road ahead of them, they really learn who their friends are and who they are, personally.
These two guys were complete opposites in high school and created an unlikely friendship to pass the officer exams for the police academy. They were less than great at their first assignment, bicycle cops in the park, and were reprimanded for not knowing the basics- such as their Miranda Rights. As punishment, they are sent to another division-Jump Street and are given the task of “containing the drug and infiltrate the supplier.” During this assignment, they suffer Molecule Mondays, Peter Pan costumes, asking girls to the prom, and many other comedic flips and turns.
This movie was very funny and was everything that the promotions and advertisements said it would be. I recommend this movie to anyone who needs a good laugh and likes action. This only thing about this movie that I would criticize would be the predictability of the plot. It was a very good movie all in all, though.
