Kenneth Hall ‘13, of Bath, Maine, a business management and music industry double major, was named the “True Gentleman of the Year” at the national Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s (SAE) 77th John O. Moseley Leadership School over the summer.
It is the highest honor given by the fraternity and is awarded to only one of the fraternity’s 13,000 undergraduate members.
“I am truly speechless and extremely honored to have received such an award” said Hall. “All the brothers I’ve met in the fraternity are really good people.”
The award is based on volunteer work, academic excellence, character and fraternal dedication.
Hall received a $5,000 scholarship and was profiled in a feature story on sae.net, the fraternity’s website, and in a story in “The Record,” SAE’s national magazine.
Hall, president of the Connecticut Nu-Eta chapter at UNH, and nine UNH brothers attended the leadership school. It was attended by 800 brothers and held aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas destined for the Bahamas, Coco Cay and the Florida Keys.
Chapter Vice President Kevin Goralski was especially excited about the opportunity to attend. He received a chapter scholarship and funds from the Bartels family, who covered airfare for all of the UNH brothers. “I was lucky enough to spend this wonderful experience with my brothers,” he said. “I took every chance I could get to network and meet students from different chapters.”
The fraternity is one of the largest in the world, with more than 300,000 members and over 240 chapters around the country. SAE is the only Greek organization that has a leadership school.
Connecticut Nu-Eta brought home several awards and is the “most decorated chapter in the country,” said Goralski. Earlier this year the chapter received the Community Service Merit Award from UNH.
“Throughout this year, we have improved our members, raised our GPAs and set a university record for recruitment,” says Hall. The chapter also raised more than $1,500 to purchase toys for the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital.
“I am very proud to have worked with our president,” Goralski added. “He is truly a dedicated and determined brother who deserved the award.

Congrats fellow Greek, but CB should check other organizations. I think both DPhiE and Phi Sig have leadership type conferences. I also believe Delta Chi has both regional leadership conferences, which New Haven has host 3 times in 12 years and International conventions which the New Haven Chapter continues to send a large representation of Active Brothers and Alumni to.
