Michael Krupa, 22, of Middletown, a UNH Mechanical Engineering student, has been missing since midnight last Saturday in the Long Island Sound off Milford.  Michael was kayaking with his friend and fellow UNH student John Ferraro, also a Mechanical Engineering major.  According to news reports, the kayak flipped, throwing the two men into the water.  John was able to swim to a nearby sailboat.  Rescue crews searched all weekend for Michael to no avail.

Michael’s family plans a memorial service and wake next weekend.  Further information will appear next week in The Hartford Courant and New Haven Register.  I will let you know details regarding funeral arrangements once they become available.

Please keep Michael’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Why weren’t any of us UNH students aware of this until now?

Update: This article does not mention that Michael Krupa was a UNH alum.
