Your Tuesdays and Fridays are about to get even better. Every Tuesday, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on WNHU 88.7 FM, it’s “Spotlight @ Night.” Your host, DJ Spotlight, enhances your nights with the electrifying sounds of EDM and rock music. It doesn’t stop there. Setting up for the weekend, the renowned DJ shines the spotlight on the latest in pop, show tunes, and more every Friday on Center Stage with DJ Spotlight from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Who is DJ Spotlight? He’s none other than Stephen Shepherd, a Forensic Science and Chemistry major. He’s also WNHU’s hardworking student Operations Manager.

Shepherd shares that during those college tours in high school, a WNHU representative approached him. Enthusiasm had him hooked, and when he decided to attend UNH, he signed right up with the station! He also shares that he did countless things before being an Operations Manager. Past roles included: Promotions Director, Street Team Manager, UNHstable Producer, and a General Promotions Team Member. The energetic soul currently oversees promotions, production, and many daily station activities in conjunction with his co-worker and station manager, Cassie Washington.

Alongside, he shares that his communication skills and confidence have both been greatly enhanced, as has his ability to be an effective leader. He also said, “it’s just fun to use my radio voice(s)!” Trust me, he’s right.

When asked about this favorite things about the station, he couldn’t chose just one; there are countless. He said, “I’d have to say the diversity that we have that all comes together for a united purpose. We have students of pretty much every major, year, and social circle who mix with community volunteers to deliver what has been voted as the #1 College Radio Station in Connecticut for the past ten consecutive years (and most of the past thirty years).” It’s insane how diverse we are. It makes us all proud to be a place where all majors are welcomed, even grad students! There are new majors that I haven’t even heard of here—absolutely wonderful.
