Brandyn Burnette is an independent pop artist from St. Louis, Missouri. His past is interesting, to say the least; his father was a hit-maker, which surely set a precedent for Burnette. He graduated and then dropped out of the Tisch School Of The Arts at New York University, flew out to Scandinavia, returned to the US, and was discovered by Kara Dioguardi in New York. Burnett’s past build-up of experience and his expertise is made very apparent throughout all of his releases.

Burnette’s track off of his State I’m In EP that dropped in June was featured on Spotify’s new release playlist. The State I’m In EP consists of eight tracks, each carefully crafted with powerful lyrics and even better instrumentals.

Burnette masterfully layers music with emotions, alternating between self-reflections on “State I’m In” and instrumental breaks that balance out Burnette’s truths instead of taking away from them. “Worship” is a sexy, forbidden fling – the type of lyrics and artistry that some wanted from One Direction’s ex-bandmate Zayn on his solo album, but far more fulfilling. This EP is perfect for a laid back night when you are in your feelings or a night drive.

Burnette is the “artist to watch” because he offers something for almost everyone. His dynamic vocal range seamlessly transitions from his signature “progressive soul” trademark to house mixes and R&B tracks, constantly toeing the line between haunting beauty and catchy pop.

He is one half of pop duo “Cosmos & Creature,” the vocals featured on the Lost Kings track “Marathon” released by Spinnin’ Records. He has written for artists including MKTO and Charlie Puth; he has even done a cover of Iggy Azalea’s song “Team”, a recording that went viral (because anyone that can strip down an Iggy Azalea song and make it beautiful deserves larger-scale recognition).

Still, with all of these side projects and personal victories, Burnette maintains a solo presence that is honest and unique. Keep an eye on him and his future endeavors—you can even follow him on social media and have a good chance of interacting with him—because Brandyn Burnette will continue to flourish in the industry.
