Volleyball Earns No. 1 Seed, Hosts NCAA East Region Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of New Haven women’s volleyball team will make its 26th postseason appearance as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball East Region Championship. As the top seed in the region, the Chargers will host the eight-team East Region Championship tournament at Charger Gymnasium from Thursday, November 17 to Saturday, November 19.

The 2011 season marks the second time in four years that the Chargers have played host to the East Region Championship. New Haven will take on No. 8 seed Pace University in the opening round on Thursday. The East Coast Conference Champions and No. 2 seed, Dowling College, will meet Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champions and No. 7 seed Caldwell College in the first round. Other first round match-ups include No. 3 seed University of Bridgeport against No. 6 seed N.Y.I.T. and the Northeast-10 Conference Champions and No. 4 seed Adelphi University vs. No. 5 seed Stonehill College.
