Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States of America on Tuesday night. He won the electoral vote in a nail biter race that lasted until early Wednesday morning.

Many did not expect Trump to come out ahead in the states that he did. The real estate developer won the key battleground states of Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Ohio.

As of Wednesday morning, the states of Wisconsin and Michigan were still too close to call, even though the majority had already been won.

As the night went on, the mood swiftly changed in the Trump camp from hopeful and modest to celebratory and disbelief. There was a fair amount of disbelief on both sides of the aisle, as Clinton supporters saw the former Secretary of State losing her edge in the electoral college.

Trump’s new test begins as he looks to “bind the wounds of division” in the country, as he said in his victory speech last night.

Trump has made promises to build a wall on the Mexican border, cut taxes to 15 percent, bring back jobs from Mexico and China, ban Muslims from entering the country, increase economic growth by 4 percent, and increase military spending.

Clinton did not speak last night, although she did make a call to President-elect Trump to congratulate him, as he mentioned in his speech.

The former candidate will make her official concession speech today at 10:30 AM ET.
