This past week the USGA set up a meeting of students who were interested in helping the university go green. The group met on Feb. 2 and I was very pleased with the number of students who turned out.
At the very end of last semester, I sent an e-mail out to all undergraduate students asking if they were interested in helping the university with some of their ideas. I received e-mails back from over 60 interested students. I was extremely impressed.
At the meeting Julia Parker, the Vice President of Facilities, spoke about the ideas and programs the university is taking on. Lisa Saverese also spoke about the process to formally create a club on campus. Elections for officers of the club have been taking place via e-mail over the past week and we are hopeful that within the next weeks we will have a green club on campus. So keep an eye out!
