Being part of the Charger Community means more than sharing a dining hall – it means sharing an experience. This shared experience allows us as individuals to learn more, not only about one another personally, but about our histories, cultures, and interests. These can be experienced through personal interactions, but also through the many events we hold on campus throughout the year. Recently, in a general USGA meeting, student senators reminded us as a student body to explore events and organizations that we would not typically go to in order to meet new people and experience new things. This is perhaps one of the greatest things college life has to offer- the opportunity to learn so much more outside of the classroom.

Here at the University of New Haven, we have one of the largest and most organized student governments that we have seen, as well as a $1.6 million budget dedicated solely to student activities, events, and the prosperity of our clubs and organizations. This means that there is likely an event hosted by an organization you are not part of occurring almost every single day that we are on campus! I believe that it is important for us to reach outside of our comfort zones and explore all that the University has to offer. In a month such as April, with extremely high levels of programming, I encourage you all to attend one of these many events. As our senators have kindly reminded us, these events, which are free and open to the campus community, allow us to grow and expand not just our knowledge of the world around us but give us the opportunity to engage with students we do not already know. In doing so, we develop our communication skills, cultural and global awareness, and make friends that can last a lifetime.

As the year comes to a close and the last events of the year come to fruition, I truly hope you will all take advantage of these incredible opportunities to relax and enjoy all that the campus has to offer. I also encourage you to continue this involvement in the years to come and to continue developing a passion for exploration and growth. I truly believe that our student activities are what make our University special and everyone in the Charger Community deserves to be part of that.
Lastly, I want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve as your USGA President for the 2016-2017 academic year and for providing me with the knowledge and experiences I will forever hold so dear. As always, if there are ever any questions about the Undergraduate Student Government Association or the status of our campus livelihood, my door is always open.

Best,

Samantha Moul
USGA President
